About Whisky Club #2
The words "Black Forest Cake" and "Malteasers" either make you hungry or thirsty - in this case imagine a succulent, creamy, smooth and flavour-filled whisky. Bottled at Cask Strength to ensure our members can enjoy it at any strength they prefer - a few drops of water can change everything about a whisky!
The idea of a Stout collaboration was an idea between our Distiller's and Sam from Last Rites - after providing Last Rites with a wet ex-whisky cask they then aged their Imperial Stout and returned the barrel to Old Kempton Distillery.
After the full maturation of the stout we received the wet cask back and immediately filled it with some of our lovely rich Pinot Noir matured single malt whisky. We have waited patiently over the months to let the cask and residual imperial stout do it’s work and we are thrilled with the result. This whisky is unlike anything we have ever produced before but it is simply sublime!
This funky whisky is a progressive show of team work between a Brewery and a Whisky Distillery - it highlights the best of both a beautiful Stout and a stunning Pinot Noir Single Malt. We highly recommend a bottle to drink and a bottle to save, although we can guarantee that you won't want to leave this sitting on the shelf!
About Stout Cask, Cask Strength
Nose: Rich toasty malt over sweet pickled cherries. Distinct echoes of the heady stout plus the oak and dark chocolatey depth of our Pinot cask drams.
Palate: a big, bold, spirit-driven explosion then soft oak and yummy malt linger on the mid palate. A little water serves to thicken the texture and helps tame the big spirit influence on the lengthy finish.
Finish: white pepper and lingering spicy notes marry well with the malt and oak to provide an extra long and complex finish to this unique club offering.
