Old Kempton Whisky Club is thrilled to have worked with our good friends at Hobart Brewing Co for this month’s release.
The team from HBC was kind enough to loan us a cask that was previously used to mature their Imperial Stout. Prior to this, the cask was used to mature both Port and Whisky. With so many flavours built up over the years we were excited to add our own chapter to it’s story.
For those that made it to Tasmanian Whisky Week 2021, you may have had a sneak peak of it from our Head Distiller, Rob, at the “Cask Finishes” evening. Our Stout cask release is a perfect example of how finishing casks can be used to provide a unique flavour and a greater depth of flavour to whisky.
To continue the story, the cask has now been passed to another Tasmanian producer - we are looking forward to tasting how they use the cask and add to it’s history.
About Stout Cask
Aroma: Beautiful chocolate malt nose with a toasted oat cereal, tinned pineapple, rosewater.
Palate: Light at first with malt biscuit before bursting to life with dark chocolate and hints of tropical fruit.
Finish: Clean and sweet with plenty of stout influence and gentle oak.

Enter the Draw
Each quarter, you are automatically entered into the ballot to receive an exclusive Old Kempton Whisky Club Members only release. You will be given the opportunity to opt out prior to the ballot day, if it is a whisky that you’re not interested in. If it’s a whisky that takes your fancy, you can also select to ‘double-up’ and purchase two bottles if you are successful in the ballot.
The first Member to double-up receives bottles 1 and 100 of the release. Ballot winners will be randomly chosen once entries close.

Enjoy your Old Kempton Whisky Club exclusive whisky!
If your name is drawn in the Ballot, your bottle is secured, and payment will be taken at that time. Your bottle will be sent straight out for you to enjoy.
If you are unsuccessful in winning a bottle, there is nothing to pay or do – except anticipate the next exclusive release.
